All participating restaurants are 2010 Cleveland Magazine Silver Spoon Award Winners. Some of my favorites include Fire, Flying Fig, The Greenhouse Tavern, L'Albatros, Lola, Parallax, and Ty Fun Thai Bistro. I also look forward to trying Chianto, Downtown 140, Hot Sauce Williams, and Pier W for the first time. View the full list of participating restaurants here.
There will also be a VIP lounge for those that want to sip on some bubbles and sample food from 2010 James Beard semi-finalists Cory Barrett, Zack Bruell and Jonathon Sawyer. VIP Lounge pass holders will enjoy sparkling wine pairings with exclusive cuisine by Chefs Barrett, Bruell and Sawyer.
Two of the VIP chef's. Sorry Cory, I couldn't find one of you.
A portion of the event is tax deductible as the proceeds will support the Arthritis Foundation, Northeastern Ohio Chapter and its local programs and services for the nearly one million Northeast Ohioans with arthritis and fund critical arthritis research conducted at local institutions in the region. My Mom and Grandma are both affected by arthritis so I am aware of the pain it can cause. Hopefully through events like this the Arthritis Foundation will have come up with better ways to treat it by the time it starts affecting me!

We looked recently at the beef cheek perogie recipe and rejected on account of not having beef cheeks readily available. I think we may try them next week now. Thanks for the meat suggestions; we're going to "order" in advance this Saturday at the WSM so we definitely have for the week after.
ReplyDeleteThat said, we make that spicy tomato soup at least once a month. It is unmatched. I love and crave it daily. Good thing Presto's Sandwich is right across the street. :)
Great giveaway! melinda.c.urick@gmail.com
I made the mac & cheese thinking my 6 year old would never eat it because it's not Kraft....boy was I wrong! She loved it (as did I) and asked me to pack it in her lunch box the next day!
ReplyDeleteglittergrl2000@sbcglobal.net
My favorite to read about so far is definitely the Roasted Leg of Lamb with Tzatziki Sauce (including the single post on making the Tzatziki sauce). Keep up the good work, Dave!
ReplyDeleteI re-Tweeted it as well, but am not sure of how to send a link to that.

Spicy tomato and blue cheese soup! Just started following your blog and loving reading about the fun you're having cooking. I'm jealous! I can't cook, so I need to go to events like the Silver Spoons and support our local restaurants. They feed me well. :)

Enter me twice...here's my re-tweet about your giveaway. I'll cross my fingers, and toes!

The macaroni and cheese was my first try at making mac-n-cheese myself and now everyone raves about what a great cook I am, all because I discovered your write-up! And the Arthritis Foundation is a great cause.
ReplyDeleteI loved Lizzie's Roasted Chicken with Salsa Verde! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

My favorite post of yours was the Roasted Leg of Lamb with Tzatziki Sauce. It had me recalling the leg of lamb my family made. I really enjoy the flavor of lamb and would eat LoL more often - but alas, my wife does not like the smell of lamb cooking in the oven, nor roasted lamb itself. Recently my MIL made me a LoL and I enjoyed every morsel of its goodness. This post was not only about a meal preparation, it also was a story with a happy ending that looked for more adventure in the world of expanding a whole family's palate. I thought your shameless Glad Wrap plug was pretty funny too (I heard Padma's voice).

LOVE the fried brussels sprouts. motivated me to make them myself! so yummy.

Well it's hard to pick a favorite out of all the amazing choices, but I would have to say Seared Wild Mushrooms made the top of my list! I'm a pescatarian, so it is hard to find one of Michael's recipes that is not infused with bacon. Mushrooms are like eating a steak for me!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work...I enjoy reading your blog and please Pick Me to win - would love to attend this event!
the fried brussel sprouts - yummy!

Shrimp with Dill Vinaigrette, my son loves it, thanks! Cindy B. =)
ReplyDeletechinadoll0420@hotmail.com
Love the Brussels Sprouts post. My boyfriend and I attempted to make the sprouts and just cannot get them to taste as good as Michael's. We love making Lizzie's roasted chicken, though!
ReplyDeleteKrystal.Dains@gmail.com
First off...love the blog.
ReplyDeleteI've made the Mac & Cheese and the Balsamic Vinaigrette . Love that both are so simple.
Leslie (Leslie_noss@yahoo.com)
I would try the mac and cheese with chicken, goat cheese and rosemary. I am really enjoying reading your blog. I have the book but have yet to try any recipes but my son has prepared several and I've enjoyed a couple of them.

Tzatziki (p. 141)
ReplyDeleteWhy? Because the very day that you posted it (and I read about it in the AM), I lunched at B Spot and there it was, served with the first ever Smasher's Special (Greek Burger with house-made gyro meat and feta). MS was there and swore they didn't know that you'd just published about the tzatziki that AM. Thanks to your blog, I knew to get the tzatziki on the side (too much cucumber for my palate; I'd have not wanted to have it already all over my burger).
Spicy Tomato and Blue Cheese Soup (p. 56)
ReplyDeleteI've made this as well and served it with rustic bread grilled with Halloumi cheese and fresh basil for a nice upscale version...
Love brussel sprouts...great recipe, gotta try it out.
ReplyDeleteI was the most intrigued by the beef cheek pierogies. To be honest, the reason they were so interesting to me (and the reason I probably can't stomach them..) is due to Hannibal Lecter. Hah!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Brussels Sprouts, and love to find new ways to prepare them.
ReplyDeleteI retweeted you!
ReplyDeleteTwitter is hooked into Facebook so it's up there too. I hope I win!
ReplyDeleteI loved the seared wild mushroom the best because I have been eationg mushrooms with everything this winter

I was at my dad's last week and went on and on about this blog, how interested I was, how much I wanted this cookbook. He was so fascinated he went and bought the cookbook...for HIMSELF! I can't wait to have him make me the slash and burn grouper!
ReplyDeletedanipalus@yahoo.com
I think the Brussel sprouts sound amazing and am hoping to make them soon. However, my favorite post to read about was the mac and cheese. I was especially excited to see that you used Mackenzie creamery cheese. Jean is a good friend of my family and we have been enjoying her cheese since she started.
ReplyDeleteErinsmarsh@gmail.com
The grilled red snapper would be my choice to try. I am SO intimidated by cooking fish and particularly cooking a whole fish, so it was nice to read along as you cooked it. It might even help me be brave enough to try it myself :)
ReplyDeleteOops - bethannemeyer@gmail.com (my comment is the one about the snapper :))
ReplyDeleteBeef Cheek Pierogies with Wildmushroom and Horseradish is my favorite. I've made several items from the cookbook and after reading your blog I want to make the pierogies next.
ReplyDeleteJohn-Marilyn@MSN.Com
I would have to say the tzatziki recipe. I LOVE LOVE LOVE tzatziki and am always looking for a good authentic recipe!
ReplyDeleteOooh pick me! My fav to read about was the slash and burn grouper. I would never have it in me to try and cook a whole fish, but you made it look easy.
ReplyDeletemnowac@gmail.com
fried brussel sprouts!!!
ReplyDeleteFried brussel sprouts are next on my list!!

I'd love to test out the "Roasted Dates with Pancetta, Almonds, and Chile." I had bacon-wrapped dates for the first time at Greenhouse Tavern, and I absolutely loved them! Great to see a similar recipe.
ReplyDeleteThe Brussel sprouts are excellent!

Yum!
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of obsessed with Brussels sprouts - SO GOOD. So the fried Brussels sprouts with walnuts & capers = the yummiest.
ashleymarie6@gmail.com
I posted it on Facebook also. (That's a link to my Facebook profile, I'm not sure how to link to an individual post. Stupid Facebook non-intuitive UI!)
ReplyDeletesweetflutter83@gmail.com
I cannot get enough of the Mac and Cheese, it's a little bit of heaven. And you were absolutely correct about the Sriracha - it gives it an excellent little kick.
ReplyDeleteThe fried brussel sprouts were definitely my favorite. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that before reading your post I had only eaten frozen b. sprouts. I bought fresh for the first time shortly after and haven't gone back down the frozen route.

I would say the mac & cheese w chicken too. It was sooo good the last time I had it, I took a little home in a 'doggie bag' with the hopes I could replicate it (I don't have the cookbook!)
ReplyDeleteWould love to win the tix if you haven't given them away (BTW, found you from your comment on Cleveland's a Plum's blog)
Congrats to Jyll for winning the tickets. They are going out in the mail today!
